Halloween 2009
Here are some pictures from Isabella and Matthew's second Halloween. This year they were much more participatory (Matthew was fascinated by his paws, and Isabella by the clink that the candy made as it was tossed in her pumpkin), but the best part of all was all the loot they racked up for their folks to enjoy! We had a great Halloween. We trick-or-treated on Main Street on Friday afternoon, which mostly consisted of stopping every few feet to look at new leaves, but we did manage to hit a business or two.
Then Saturday morning we headed to the Homecoming parade (Vandals won 35-34!!) and, since their outfits were designed for Northwest weather, we spent the parade looking at all the folk on the floats and in the bands and got a kick out of the marchers occasionally saying "Oh, look at that adorable dragon and/or butterfly!!" We had the kids on our shoulders until I looked up at Matthew and saw him dozing high over his dad's head. He slept through the rest of the parade in his stroller. Maybe that's what all the people were staring at--a dragon dozing on his perch...
Saturday afternoon we went to a Halloween potluck with friends that was lots of fun, and then we finished the day with a quick trick-or-treating session in the mall. The babies must have had fun because they slept almost through the entire night and didn't wake up until 7:00 this morning, which was 8:00 for them with the time change and all. We should take them trick-or-treating more often....

Matthew and Isabella the last four months
This is the last of four entries I'm (finally!) making today. As the first explains, we've been a little busy this semester, Luis with his new business, I with classes, and all of us with the process of development and growth that we continually marvel at in Isabella and Matthew. They change every single day. In the last four months we've taken trips to Arizona and Washington state, and have had visits from loved ones from Washington state, British Columbia, and even Florida. We've apparently been too busy to take pictures and post them, so our apologies. We hope these pics will suffice until the holidays, when there will be more pics from Washington state, B.C. and Mexico. Stay tuned! Love to all, Ruthanne and Luis
This semester Matthew and Isabella have been lucky enough to have their Granny and PopPop living in Moscow. They spend at least three afternoons a week with their grandparents and love the time they spend there because they eat very well and can be as silly as they want. We are so happy to have had my mom and dad here this semester and know that all four of us will miss their love and support when they head home to Vancouver at Christmas. What a special opportunity to spend quality time in these moments when Isabella and Matthew are developing so fast.
These pictures are of Matthew, in all his silly moments. We are having such fun watching these guys grow and change. Matthew has been teething nonstop this entire year, which seems impossible but the constant pile of bibs and soaked tshirts and sweaters stands as testament to Matthew's newly cut molars.
Some pictures of Isabella
Hello!!! I know it's been awhile (almost four months!!) but the babies are mobile, which of course changes the whole game. Things are great for us, the babies are so healthy and at a stage where they are changing every day. Isabella's favorite words are "Melmo" (Elmo), "bubbles" and, as of yesterday "shoes". Matthew's favorites are "More?" "bubble" and "guau guau", which is Spanish for "bow wow", which both he and Isa use whenever they see a dog. They've just had another growth spurt and are wearing 24 month clothes, with the pant legs rolled up (they've got the girth, just not the height yet). They will be 16 months old on November 3. We really can't believe that. I've got lots of pictures to upload but I'm afraid they won't be in any order, so please forgive the lack of sequence.

The last of the birthday photos
Thanks to Willow for sending these to us. This is the third entry for today and I'll try to get a video up in the next few days of our babies...WALKING! They both took their first three steps yesterday (Isabella had been flirting with steps for the last week, but both she and Matthew finally went for it yesterday). We are very excited at our house, and bracing ourselves for what comes next...
