Well, this is Moscow in January. Today the University of Idaho closed school for the first time in about ten years. We almost couldn't get to our doctor's appointment today. We did make it, though, and heard the babies hearbeats for the first time. One's was in the 140s and the other's in the 150s. They sound healthy I think. I am trying to convince Luis Alfredo to stay home from work today. The roads are awful and he has to drive to Pullman (about 10 miles away). We'll see if he listens...

A ver si me hace caso...

Here I am, bigger and bigger. These are pictures from December 22 and Jan 22, one month apart. Focus on the belly, the face needs rest.

Well, here they are. This is the first picture, what Luis Alfredo and I saw at the hospital during that first ultrasound. The lab technicians smiled when they saw us smile and the tear roll down my cheek. They told us we were taking the news really well. In reality, they make you drink 64 ounces of water before the ultrasound and then proceed to squish your bladder until you're about to burst. I let them know, "You could tell me there are two elephants in there and I wouldn't be able to react. What I'm focusing on is not peeing on your exam table." The moment was over. Luis Alfredo and I began to process the news after heading home and looking at the pictures on our computer. We now feel doubly blessed and are anxiously awaiting our next view of the babies and their eventual arrival. I'm currently in week 15. Originally the expected due date was placed at July 22, but that was before we found out they were twins. Now the doctors expect them to arrive by the middle of June. As long as they're healthy, the sooner the better. I'd love to have two months with them before heading back to work.

Aqui estan.
